Help Points can have the dual functionality of being a point from which to request information as well as calling for emergency assistance. Help Points are used in green spaces, river banks, beach fronts, remote locations, housing estates, in fact any open area where a member of the public may need to gain assistance, information or reassurance. Callers are connected to two separate locations: Information calls to Travel Desks, a recorded message or the local Tourist Information office: Emergency calls to a local control centre or the Police.
